I am Hawkins Howe, owner of Dirty Work Landscaping. My love for landscaping and handwork came at a very young age, when my dad handed me a weed walker at 8 years old. This got the ball rolling for me. 

Fast forward a few years. I gained a lot of confidence in my landscaping abilities. I took that same weed wacker and an old honda push lawn mower and began to walk door to door looking for work. My interest grew and I decided to expand and work for a commercial landscaping company to learn more. 

 I worked 50 hour weeks in 100 degree weather  with sweat, dirt, and poison ivy all seeming to blend together on my skin. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done, but for some reason, I just couldn’t get enough. No matter how tough it was, I kept going back to that job with a smile on my face. 

I tried my hand at a few other jobs but nothing really stuck. I was feeling a little lost so I took a big risk. On March 24, 2023 I booked a 1 way flight to Thailand with plans of competing as a professional fighter. My life was in a rut, and I figured that this would fix it. So I traveled to the small island of Koh Samui with boxing gloves and a dream. I met with the legendary trainer Wech Pinyo, who trained me hard for 2 weeks before my fight. All of the training paid off as I won the fight. I then spent about 2 months in Thailand before heading back to the states.

When I got back to America, I had a new perspective on life and on the value of hard work. I used to run from difficult things, but all of the sudden that didn’t make sense anymore. I stopped running from hard work and decided to follow my passions regardless of the perceived struggle. The places that I loved to express myself as an artist were the martial arts gyms and landscaping projects. 

After moving down here to South Carolina, I decided to go all in on landscaping. I have always loved the art form of it, but it wasn’t until recently that I also fell in love with the process… with the Dirty Work.

So here we are now, a relatively new landscaping company in Charleston, SC. Our work is our art and we look forward to getting down and dirty.
